The Uncertain Ontology of the Metaphor
Metaphors don’t impel us to ”believe” in them, but to believe in their process, the fecundity of the imagination.
Do we need to believe in Psychoanalysis? Their has been so much negativity towards Freud recently. It reminds me of the cynicism towards the deconstruction of Derrida or the critique of the Real by Baudrillard expressed by people like Steven Pinker and Sam Harris....

The thought also occurred to me that cocaine use also makes people’s jaw move in the same way, back and forth, grinding. Is the brain making a zillion connections while on coke? Wiring itself? Concentrating? Developing deep neuronal grooves/associations?

Look at some of the videos of Kurt Cobain playing guitar - especially the stuff from the Unplugged session. He moves his jaw around quite often. I would say, ” in deep concentration,” but it’s almost the opposite. It’s in complete mindfulness/flow/empty of thought/sensuality/(atonement?). I’ve seen many an Artist stick out their tongue and work it around as they draw....

Happy ''new'' Year!
Renewal always requires, demands, something to be ”new”…(yet) ”again”…over and over. ”Appearing” and ”disappearing” loose the significance of their ontological descriptive status or rather it’s just that the words’ implied value judgement (one is a ”+” and the other ”-” but it is essentially the same...
